Increase Traffic to Your Website
It's a renowned fact that 70 to 80 percent of traffic comes from search engines and the remaining form advertisements, marketing of email, banners, mobile phones etc.
Increasing website traffic includes increasing hits, increasing page views, increasing sessions and increasing visitors. Increasing page views proves to be beneficial for some websites because most of the visitors view the first page of the site and then exit but most websites aim at increasing the unique and loyal visitors.
There are various methods to increase site traffic by increasing site visitors. Submitting site to all major web directories generates traffic and improves link popularity, submitting sites to search engines, persuade people with complementary sites to link your site, buying links on other sites, getting your site connected with other sites in niche by participating in Web Rings, Publishing yourself by writing articles for your own site regularly, running contests and promoting it, offering people something which they may want from your site, offering them free Submit Content or discounts or coupons, joining local business organizations, using email and off-line marketing, and finally your site should be accessible to all browsers, mobiles, pocket PC etc. |
Many people find increasing web hits as an effective method of increasing traffic to a site. A hit is counted whenever a unique file whether an html, image or scripts file is downloaded. Most of the people believe that the amount of requests a person makes are the amount of hits a site gets but since the website can contain a number of unique files counting hits is often meaningless in judging the success of the site. Web hits do not necessarily prove as effective as increasing visitors, sessions or page views.
Many webmasters prefer web hits while reporting their traffic and consider that website hits are not appropriate for measuring website success
