In start ARPANCT started small, connecting three computers in different places, but it quickly grew to span the continent.

ARPANET was widely successful because of I. response. It was broken to two parts MILNET which had the military sites and new smaller ARPANET which had non-military sites. Two sites remained connected, however, through a technical scheme called IP. IP (Internet protocol) acted as a rule for data transmission.
