Maltese Puppy Training

Maltese are quite intelligent puppies and they learn new tricks and behaviors quite easily. House training Maltese is not at all difficult if done properly. Having a good attitude and understanding of dogs is as important as knowing the effective techniques to train the dogs. Training is nothing but educating the dog about right and wrong. House training should start the moment the puppy enters you home.

First of all frame a schedule for training your dog. Regular schedules should be made meals, exercise etc. you must strictly follow the schedule otherwise the puppy might never get house trained.

Feed your Maltese puppy three times in a day till he becomes 6 months old and after that twice a day. It should be given balanced diet including proteins, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals. The best food for your puppy is the one which is fresh and uncompressed. They should not be given much of commercial food as it can do harm to them.

Puppies normally have little control on bowel and bladder and thus go to potty frequently. Always select a proper place for the puppy to shit. Always take him to the potty area after every two minutes when he does wants to go take him to that same place and keep on saying “go potty” in the same tune.

In the early days keep the puppy within your site and don't scream at him. If you catch doing something wrong say no gently but firmly. Remember you should never beat him or scream at him, this might have a negative impact on him. Choose a big enough crate for him where he feels comfortable.
