Cure For TMJ
TMJ (Temporomandibular Joint Disorder) often termed as TMD is a pain caused by dislocation of cartilage where the lower jaw (mandible) connects to the skull. Basically, the main function of TM Joints that can be located near the ears is to maintain coordination between lower and upper jaw i.e. it helps in moving the jaw simultaneously. Temporomandibular joint can cause sever pain and clicking sounds in the jaw that can be heard by some people.
Sorry to say but no perfect cure has been developed for TMJ and that is why it is very difficult to treat TMJ. However, some of the cures available for TMJ are:
Jaw Rest
You can use a jaw rest beneath your jaw that will help in healing your jaw. Certain things like chewing gums, chewing pencils, other chewing habits and eating heavy food should be avoided during this as it can create a lot of pressure on the jaw resulting in further displacement of your jaw and making your TMJ treatment more difficult.
Exercise
Jaw and neck exercises can also be a good cure for TMJ that will help you stretch jaw muscles increasing the flexibility of your jaws. Perform such exercises in the morning in a moist or warm environment. |
