Best Cure for Snoring

Snoring is an act of noisy breathing through the mouth & nose during sleep. Snoring can be defined as a condition where a person breathes through open mouth in such a way that an unpleasant loud noise is created due to vibration of uvula and soft palate during the sleep. The person suffering from snoring is unaware of the loud unpleasant noise he creates while breathing. The main cause of snoring is blockage of breathing passage.

All the cures for snoring help in clearing blockage in breathing passage and therefore, people affected with snoring are suggested to loose weight ( to decrease the pressure of fat on throat),avoid smoking (smoking increases nasal congestion & mucous in throat area) and sleep to their side( preventing tongue from jamming the throat). Another best cure for snoring is surgery (for e.g. uvulopalatopharyngoplasty )

Another approach to cure snoring is to decrease the vibration of throat tissues by stiffening them with everlasting inserts of polyester substance. You can reduce noises and vibrations of snoring by injecting a scarring solution or with the help of laser. Surgery involves two types of treatments.

  1. (UPPP) Uvulopalatopharyngoplasty
  2. (TAP) Thermal Ablation Palatoplasty

(UPPP) Uvulopalatopharyngoplasty involves treating sleep apnea. ( Sleep apnea is a condition where a person stops breathing for a while which can become a cause of his death) In this treatment flabby tissues in throat and palate are tightened to expand the air passage.

(TAP) Thermal Ablation Palatoplasty refers to the ways to treat snoring. Various types of TAP treatments include laser, bipolar cautery and radiofrequency.

If you feel that surgery is too risky then you can use a nasal mask to sleep every night. This nasal mask forces extra air into your throat, this term being referred as CPAP (continuous positive airway pressure).
