In case you want the shade to cover more area than the window height and width of the surface to be covered by the shade should also be measured. Generally all shades are between 45 to 54 inches wide. You should also find out quantity of dowels and fabric you need before going to shop the same. To find out the exact requirement of dowels divide the height of the window by approximately six to nine inches and this is the distance between every dowel fold. An extra six inches of fabric would also be needed for mounting the shade and you get the final height by adding this to your window height. Similarly an extra two inches of fabric should be added to your window's width. This is the exact amount of fabric you need.
